Ms. Tia M. Priolo is a seasoned attorney based in Westerly, Rhode Island, with nearly three decades of experience in civil litigation, family law, probate, real estate, and land use. A graduate of New England School of Law and Simmons College, Ms. Priolo has been practicing law since 1996 and is licensed in both Rhode Island and Connecticut.
As a founding partner of Scungio & Priolo, Attorneys at Law, Ms. Priolo is known for her strategic advocacy, meticulous drafting, and deep commitment to fairness. She has represented clients in complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution forums, and she brings a practical, solution-oriented approach to every case.
Ms. Priolo served as the first female Municipal Court Judge for the Town of Westerly, presiding over weekly hearings involving municipal infractions and motor vehicle violations with clarity, equity, and professionalism.
Beyond the courtroom, Ms. Priolo taught law as an adjunct professor at Mitchell College and completed advanced training in mediation, parent coordination, and high-conflict custody matters. Her landmark case, Cavanaugh v. Kazounis, helped shape Rhode Island law on deed execution.
A lifelong advocate for civic engagement, Ms. Priolo has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Westerly-Pawcatuck YMCA, the Greater Westerly Pawcatuck Chamber of Commerce, and the Town of Westerly’s Juvenile Board and Homestead Act Committee. Based in Westerly, Rhode Island, he is a founding partner of Scungio & Priolo, where he provides strategic counsel to individuals, businesses, creditors, and debtors across a broad spectrum of legal matters.
Mr. Scungio began his legal career in 1982 with DiMuro, DiMuro & Scungio, where he became a partner and built a robust real estate practice handling closings, title work, foreclosures, land use disputes, and zoning matters. From 1994 to 2004, he operated the Law Offices of Americo M. Scungio in Westerly and Providence, continuing his general practice with a focus on secured transactions and business law.
Since 2004, Mr. Scungio has served clients through Scungio & Priolo, offering practical, results-driven representation in state and federal courts. His practice includes bankruptcy filings, corporate formation and governance, probate administration, and litigation involving complex financial and property issues.
He is admitted to practice in the State of Rhode Island, the U.S. District Courts for Rhode Island and Connecticut, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Mr. Scungio earned his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Boston College. His career reflects a commitment to legal excellence, client advocacy, and the highest standards of professional integrity.
